Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Thomson Reuters, the world’s leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals, announced today that the upcoming Global Islamic Economy Summit (‘GIES’) has registered more than 1,200 delegates. GIES will be held in Dubai at the Madinat Jumeirah on the 25th and 26th of November.

The Summit promises to be a truly global event. Thus far delegates residing in more than 70 countries around the world ranging from the United States to New Zealand; the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to China; and France to Malaysia have registered to attend. There has been significant interest from local, regional and multinational companies based in the GCC, accounting for circa 70% of overall registrations to date. The event has also received a marked interest from entities from the South East Asia and Europe.

Registrations also reflect the seniority of those planning to attend, with a large percent representing high-level executives, including board members, C-suite executives, country heads and senior management team members.

Russell Haworth, Managing Director, Middle East and North Africa, Thomson Reuters, said: “With almost six weeks to go, GIES has witnessed strong interest from members of the regional and international business community. What makes this Summit truly unique is the holistic approach we are taking to addressing the Islamic Economy – looking across the halal and Islamic Finance sectors. I am pleased to see this reflected in the diverse array of industry delegates registered and expect this trend to continue as we get closer to the event.”

Dr Sayd Farook, Head of Islamic Capital Markets, Thomson Reuters added: “The range of countries and industries expected at GIES clearly demonstrates that the Islamic Economy has no boundaries. This Summit will be an annual event and I look forward to seeing its international reach expand as the Economy grows. Thomson Reuters is committed to supporting the growth of Islamic Economy through thought leadership events such as this, as well as leading the charge in the gathering and analysis of data regarding the Islamic and halal sectors.”
