Dubai Accreditation Department gets international recognition in accreditation and certification
Adding one more feather to its crown of fame, Dubai Municipality has recently achieved yet another international in the field of accreditation and certification.
It comes as Dubai Accreditation Department (DAC) of Dubai Municipality became signatory to the International Accreditation Forum( IAF ).
It was informed by Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohammed director of Accreditation Department of the civic body.
She said: “Dubai Accreditation Department (DAC) has signed Multilateral Recognition Agreement (MLA) of International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and of Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (PAC) for management system certifications according to ISO/IEC 17021 for QMS ISO 9001 and EMS ISO 14001 certification scopes”
Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohammed said, the new international recognition will boost up the spirits of the department to offer best services to its clients.
Further she said, “In line with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai that Dubai will become the hub and centre of Islamic economy and under the directives of Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah director general of Dubai Municipality , DAC is launching a scheme of Halal accreditation for Halal certification bodies.”
She said the Halal accreditation scheme will cover food and cosmetics initially.
During IAF general assembly meeting held in South Korean capital Seoul, Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohammed received IAF MLA Certificate.
Ms Amina handed over the certificate to the director general of Dubai Municipality Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah in a function held at the head quarters of the civic body located in Deira.
While receiving It, Eng Lootah said: ” Dubai Municipality has been keen on improving its status and the services it offers in line with the best global practices. In this task it has been in continuous contact with various international organisation and other bodies.”
He said the newly achieved recognition will escalate not only Dubai Municipality ‘s status as a vibrant government body in the country but also will contribute in the journey of Dubai being an ever-emerging global city characterized with leadership and excellence.
He also attributed the new gain to the policies, programs and projects Dubai Municipality is executing to accomplish its vision that focus on creating an excellent city that provides the essence of success and comfort of sustainable living.
He praised the officials who spent their time and efforts to attain this global recognition and honoured them by giving away certificates and mementos.
It is noted that Dubai Accreditation Department is the only accreditation body in the gulf region which is internationally recognized.
DAC is also a full time member and MRA signatory of International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) for testing, calibration, inspection and medical testing.
Being the only internationally recognized in the gulf region, DAC is providing recognized accreditation services to all gulf countries including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar & Bahrain. As of now more than 200 laboratories, certification companies and inspection companies are accredited by DAC.
