I would like to see some information on your site about diet coke and other diet products that contain Asparteme. Asparteme is supposed to have more Alcohol than most liquors. You can an internet search on this product, many thing will come up… K.S.

We contacted our technical contact with regards to your question about aspartame. Here is what he had to say:
“There is lot of literature about the bad effect of Aspartame on humans. It is reported that the methane release in stomach which is a poison but it is Halal.
Although methane is known as wood alcohol but it will not cause intoxication. I do not personally drink diet Coke or Pepsi because I hate its taste. As for Aspartame’s Halal status, it is a Halal ingredient. It is a personal decision to drink diet soft drink or not.” (Web posted 04.11.04 @ 1.39 am EDT)
