This is probably a dumb question, but my Islamic neighbors are coming over for dessert soon and I am trying to make sure that everything is halal for them. Does halal state that there must be different sets of dishes used for different food items? BTW, you have some terrific recipes on your site! Thank you for your time.

Any set of dishes can be used to serve halal dishes, as long as they are clean and are not contaminated with any haram ingredients or products (i.e. alcohol, pork, haram food products, etc.).
