BELGRADE – A Halal office will open at the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce following an agreement signed by Chamber President Milan Jankovic and Director of Halal Agency Serbia Mustafa Jusufspahic.
The agreement on business and technical cooperation, which includes plans for opening a Halal office at the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce building, was signed in the presence of ambassadors from 19 countries.
The opening of the office is very important because demand for halal products is on the rise in the Serbian capital, and the development of this kind of production and market can contribute to the growth of the Serbian economy, the Chamber said in a release.
Serbia needs more direct investments in the halal industry, said Jusufspahic, expressing satisfaction with future cooperation since there are more and more businesses interested in implementing Halal standards.
Halal standards are applied primarily in the production of food, as well as the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Hotels which want to attract guests from Islamic countries can also apply for a Halal certificate.
